When we look back on our life together, we will divide it into two major periods: "Before California," and "After Doctoral Program." 

Last week, we sold our house and most of our stuff and moved to California. In a few weeks, Melissa will start a doctoral program in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at U.C. Berkeley, and Steve will start his search for a new job. But not yet. Tomorrow morning, we're headed back to New Zealand with our favorite twelve-year old in tow.
